Capt. Chas Hibbard
Capt. Chas was born and raised in Muskegon, MI and is very comfortable on the water. From a young age had many opportunities to be on the water with family, friends and neighbors. Chas has spent time going through the ranks he has piloted everything from a 12ft row boat to a 36’ cruiser yacht. While spending most of his summers on the water this has given him his vast knowledge and navigational skill for the West Michigan Coastline and its local ports including Muskegon. Capt. Chas also spent several years working at one of the local marinas which further more enhanced his love for the marine industry and the Great Lakes.
For many years Capt. Chas enjoyed both sunset cruises and pan fishing on Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. In the summer of 2002 Capt. Chas and his brother-in-law, Capt. Ed, being their hunt for the top sport fishing species on Lake Michigan. Equipped with an 18’ Star Craft and a few downriggers, they began their hunt and their sport fishing partnership, as they became more knowledgeable in their hobby. Capt. Chas and Capt. Ed slowly being to upgrade both their equipment and their boat.
In 2005 Capt. Chas Hibbard earned his USCG Merchant Mariner Credential. After receiving these credentials, Capt. Chas spent his first several years working part-time, operating a towing and rescue vessel for Nautical Services/Tow Boat US Muskegon. Moving on in his marine career he continued to work as a relief captain for several of the local charter boats in the Port of Muskegon. In the spring of 2014 Capt. Chas and Capt. Ed were finally given the opportunity they had been waiting for, and with the purchase of their newest boat “Jobsite Too” together they created Jobsite Sportfishing LLC.
Capt. Chas Hibbard currently holds USCG Merchant Mariner Credential/OUPV License with a Commercial Assistance Towing Endorsement and a TWIC Credential. He is enrolled in a USCG approved random drug screening program in accordance with CFR 46 part 4 & 5 and CFR 49 part 10, and is ESCI certified in First Aid and CPR (adult, child and infant).
Capt. Chas is a member of the Muskegon Charter Boat Association; and currently holds a position on their executive board. Being both a 3rd generation boater and an excellent fisherman, on the water is where Chas loves to be and where he feels at home. Let him take you for a tour of his backyard…
Capt. Ed Schroder
Capt. Ed was born and raised right here in Muskegon, MI and is no stranger to fishing. Growing up just a mile or two from Lake Michigan and its surrounding waters, he began fishing small lakes, ponds and their tributaries at a young age and as much as he could. Spending most of his summers with a fishing rod in his hand, it was no surprise that someday he would become a charter fishing captain.
In 2002, Capt. Ed began his journey in targeting the Lake Michigan sport fishery. Going out just a few times on other boats with family, friends or neighbors, he was hooked. Starting out on Capt. Chas’s, 18’ Star Craft with a few downriggers it didn’t take long and they were hooked. Capt. Ed and Capt. Chas spent as much time and money as they could afford they began to realize this was going to be a fun ride. As they became more proficient at finding and catching the fish, they began upgrading both equipment and boat.
In 2009 Capt. Ed began his career as a First Mate for hire on several of the well-know boats around Muskegon. He further expanded his fishing knowledge and learning the business from some of the best in West Michigan. In the spring of 2014 Capt. Ed and Capt. Chas were finally given the opportunity they had been waiting for. With the purchase of their newest boat “Jobsite Too” together they created Jobsite Sportfishing LLC. Within this same time period Capt. Ed went through the vigorous intense training and testing to become a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain.
Capt. Ed Schroder currently holds a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential of 50 ton National Near Coastal Masters License with a Commercial Assistance Towing endorsement, TWIC Credential and also holds an internationally recognized rating of OD (ordinary seaman) for larger commercial vessels. Capt. Ed is enrolled in a USCG approved random drug screening program in accordance with CFR 46 part 4 & 5 and CFR 49 part 10, and is also ESCI certified in First Aid and CPR (adult, child and infant).
Capt. Ed currently holds a position on the executive board of the Muskegon Charter Boat Association, and is an active member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators.
